HAIR-DO INSPIRATION

I don’t talk Politics on my Blog, but I do talk hair, hair care, and styling. This toes the line, I know, but I think my next phase of hair-cut and styling will be inspired by current Speaker of the House, Mike Johnson.

We all don’t agree on Politics, anymore, but who can argue he doesn’t have a great head of hair. Can I pull that off? It’s kind-of News Anchor meets midwest dad. I have more forehead and I’m receding a bit more than 54-year-old MJ (I’m 53), but I think we have equal amounts of grey (hard to comb and style) but plenty of brown.

MJ is commited. He grows it long. I wish I could meet him and ask, “Mr. Speaker, Mr. Speaker … will you pull your bangs down and let me see if they go to the eyebrow? Mid nose? Or do your bangs stretch to the tip of your nose?

You might be saying, “Don? You pretty much have this look already,” and you’d be soooooooo wrong. I mean … I’m close. But I need more length to give me that swoop and more length means more volume.

Maybe I’ll call his office and leave a message?

“Hi, Mr. Speaker … my name’s Don. I live in Michigan. I think this-and-this about the war in Iran. I feel tariffs are blah-blah-blah. But, could you call me back or have your team call me back and let me know how often you get your hair cut. What styling products do you use? I’ve been using a dollop of Aquaphor – because every single styling gel or pommade makes my head itch and gives me dandruff and I saw a couple YouTube influencers say a hidden secret of Aquaphor is as a styling gel. I just use a little. Like a half-a-popcorn kernel size on my index finger and then I kinda touch all my finger tips together so all the finger tips have, like, the smallest amount of Aquaphor but the idea is I just barely touch the flare ups …smooth them …and then right along the front of my hairline, I slick and swoop from left to right. Trust me. Aquaphor as styling gel. Will change your life. Welp. That’s all I got. Really want to talk with you about tariffs and war and stuff and you’ll probably give me a huge bowl of word salad but really what I want to know are your hair secrets.”

I love the picture of Mike Johnson’s hair as some all-grey older man is probably telling him he should get it cut “high and tight” and just let a barber use clippers and Mike’s thinking, “look at this fool telling me how to cut at style my hair … that’s just Big Grey and Big Balding trying to intimidate and change me…”

As I always say …we need leaders to lead …and he’s leading when it comes to hair.
