Let’s call this Kowalewskipedia. I’m sure if someone looks hard enough they’ll be able to find my Mom’s birthday, maiden name, and use it to tap into my bank accounts and apply for credit cards in my name. LifeLock, don’t fail me now.
Mainly, here’s a page with links to other pages with stories and photos of my Mom. I’ve had a Blog for about 20 years and mostly it’s been rambling and lacking focus, but now I think my Blog can be a website and I’m organizing it for my kids and their kids.
Work in progress.
Hope you enjoy some stories about Mary Lou.
Mary Lou and The Cabbage Patch Kids: One of the biggest fads of the ’80s and my Mom was at the forefront. She was the most-’80s Mom possible and her ongoing mission to find the perfect Cabble Patch Kid is a testament to her giving spirit. Read it here.
What I Wish I Would’ve Added to My Mom’s Eulogy: Me and my big mouth. For whatever reason, I like to talk, write things, and tell stories. Over the years, I’ve been asked to speak on occasion and sometimes those speaking occasions are Eulogies. It started when I eulogized my grandmother, Lillian Kowalewski, in 1996. I guess I hit a home run, so I’ve been asked to do a few more. Nothing was more difficult that eulogizing my Mom …who died suddenly and long before she should’ve. I’m proud of the eulogy I gave, but this particular habit she had, of downplaying and short selling everything she did, was (in)perfectly her, every time. The lesson to me, and to everyone, is be yourself, don’t apologize, and if you did your best, then it’s perfect …perfectly you. Read it here.
Random Bits of Greatness About My Mom: Mom was the best at wrapping presents, making beds, folding laundry, and helping my Dad become a great husband and father. Here‘s just some random bits of greatness I wrote about on Mother’s Day 2019.
The Right Way to Fold a Shirt: It’s a small thing, but this is how you fold a shirt.
