Happy (Belated) International Podcast Day!!!

Figures since I spend about 23 hours a week listening to Podcasts, I should wish everyone a happy International Podcast Day! I’m gonna celebrate by, um … listening to Podcasts about Podcasts because … drum roll . . . I think I’m gonna start my own Podcast with my friends.

I love Podcasts. I appeared as a guest-host six times on The Alpha Shift Podcast that may or may not still exist in the universe. I once appeared on an episode of Mel Robbins’ Podcast years and years ago before she became the Mel Robbins she is today. I’ve Blogged a few times about how I listen to too many Podcasts. But I love Podcasts.

I mostly listen and organize my Podcasts using the Pocket Cast App. It’s made by Podcast lovers for Podcast lovers.

I love Podcasts for the same reasons everyone does … I can listen while I’m doing other things. I learn lots of stuff. And I keep up with things like sports and current events.

Here’s my favorite Podcasts . . .

NEVER MISS

  1. The Drew Lane Podcast (approx 12 hours per week)
  2. The Daily Stoic (Audio and his YouTube Channel … 2 1/2 hours per week)
  3. The Valenti Show with Rico
  4. PTI (20 minutes)
  5. The Jim Rome Show (approx 5 hours per week even tho it’s 15 hours … I skip the interviews, the betting/gambling tips, and the collectibles stuff)
  6. The Prog G Pod (2 hours)
  7. Couch and the Rube (1-2 hours even though there’s about 4 … they talk about stuff I don’t care about)
  8. Fareed Zakaria GPS (1 hour)

IF I LIKE THE EPISODE TOPIC AND ALMOST ALWAYS DO

  1. 5-Star Zone
  2. The Drive (with Peter Attia MD)
  3. The Moth
  4. Art of Manliness
  5. The Genius Life
  6. Deep Questions
  7. The Tim Ferriss Show
  8. The Sales Gravy Podcast
  9. The Gary Vee Audio Experience
  10. Pablo Torre Finds Out

WHEN I’VE LISTENED TO EVERYTHING ELSE OR NEED SOMETHING IN THE BACKGROUND OR TO HELP ME FALL ASLEEP

  1. How Did This Get Made?
  2. Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend

PODCASTS THAT ARE ACTUALLY TV SHOWS I WATCH OR WATCH ON DVR

  1. The Pat McAfee Show
  2. Morning Joe Podcast
  3. Raging Moderates
  4. The Daily Show:  Ears Edition
  5. The Late Show Pod Show with Stephen Colbert

I should be embarrassed, but I’m not in the slightest. I wonder what people used to do before Podcasts when they took a long morning walk, unloaded the dishwasher, shaved, walked the dog, and commuted to and from work. Music? Talk radio. For the life of me, I can’t remember.

Podcasts, for me, have filled in the silent gaps of life …and don’t worry, I still find ways to focus, journal, clear my mind, and stuff like that … but Podcasts are one of the best things in my life.

Happy Podcast Day!!!
